I May or May Not Have Been Paid to Publish This "Game of Thrones" Puff Piece on My Blog

I may or may not have been paid to publish this Game of Thrones puff piece on my blog.

I may or may not be a true fan of the show since the very beginning.

It may or may not matter if I’m a true fan of the show, as far as I’m concerned, because I may or may not be getting paid money to write this.

I may or may not know any characters’ names from Game of Thrones except “Jon Snow.”

I may or may not know the name “Jon Snow” solely because I saw it in the headline of someone else’s Game of Thrones puff piece.

I may or may not believe that the world of Game of Thrones is kind of like the world that is evoked in Lord of the Rings.

Actually, never mind, it’s probably really idiotic to think that for even half a second. Never mind! They’re totally different!

I may or may not believe that this has been the best season of Game of Thrones that we’ve had yet.

I may or may not have been offended by the portrayal of female agency (or lack thereof, if you think about it) in the most recent episode.

I may or may not be willing to overlook all of the show’s deficiencies in exchange for a few dollars that they threw my way for posting a Game of Thrones puff piece on my blog.

I may or may not think they’ve done a great job filming the battle scenes in recent episodes.

I may or may not be hoping that a certain character (ugh!) gets killed off soon.

I may or may not be hoping against all hope that two characters who are absolutely perfect for each other will end up getting together.

I may or may not be predicting, though, that when that perfect couple does finally get together, one or both of them will get killed off right before the series fades to black. This will completely pull the rug out and put social media in a tizzy!

I may or may not have a Game of Thrones desktop background on my computer right now.

I may or may not be in the middle of googling info about Game of Thrones to try to flesh out this puff piece a little bit.

Did you realize that there are some interesting parallels between the show’s new subplot and our current political situation, vis a vis authoritarian impulses and the dangers that lie therein?

Do you think that PETA has double checked yet to make sure that the furs the characters wear in the show are not real furs?

Did you realize that Game of Thrones actually has quite a lot to say about the state of masculinity in America today? It kind of hits the nail on the head, but it also gets it kind of wrong, if you ask me.

And that, my liege, concludes my official Game of Thrones puff piece that they may or may not have paid me to post on my blog.

They probably say things like, “my liege,” on the show, right?

May you enjoy the rest of the final season of Game of Thrones! Or not!

Bonus material: I was NOT paid to post this puff piece on my blog. This one is a freebie, Game of Thrones! Next time, though, I might not be so willing to give you guys free publicity! Think of me next Sunday night, HBO, when you see a slight uptick in your viewership numbers!
